I am a frenchy photographer for years. I work for free for years and I learnt a lot and still learning everyday. Taking pics is my absolute passion, I just feel alive there.

As I am not paid, one day I decided to do only what I like. As a traveler-addicted, I made the choice to organize my fashion photoshoots everywhere I travel 🙂

I would like to share my adventures and experiences with you!

I am a 40’s girl traveling alone, which is always such a crazy thing! But each time I meet amazing people, even more when ‘adventures’ appears. Thanks so much each of you who feeds my ideas to make them becoming true!

Australia, QLD – Hervey Bay before leaving

To finish my 15 days trip to QLD, I drove along the coast on 500km from Surfers Paradise to Hervey Bay. I really liked this cool air in front the Coral See with huge beaches. I saw happy people taking time playing with their children, with their dogs, fishing  along the sea… and surfing. This way of living is not usual in Europe.

I made a stop to take a little plane to have an aerial view of Fraser Island. It was amazing! A mistake was done on my reservation so the pilot made my land and take off on a beach on Fraser Island!!! The craziest “airport” ever!!! then I had an extra flight… I saw whales for truth for the first time!.. I was stunned and moved, feeling to be very lucky…

Then I took a whales tour on boat as it was a childhood dream! It wasn’t that touristic, Australian people on board. It was nuts actually, we could feel their breathing and those whales were here because they are curious, by their own will… I couldn’t believe it was real!

I walked on a 1,8km pier to Hervey Bay. People used to come and fish there, pelicans know it!!

The day before going back to France I made a stop to Coolum Beach. I found my car with a flat tire and no car jack inside!!! I parked to a supermarket and 3 men kindly helped me happily! And I met an excellent woman who invited me home for dinner! I had a very nice evening there 🙂 God was with me! But the replaced tire was for a limited speed to 80km/h so I couldn’t reach the airport as the only way I knew was the motorway… I went to a small Hertz agency and I had to negotiate strongly to have a new car without paying AUD4,400 but only the price of a new tire (AUD85)!

I left Australia with an heavy heart, promising myself to come back 😉

Australia, QLD – Surfers Paradise for the 3rd photoshoot

After my first week to Rockhampton and Brisbane, I rent a car to go to Surfers Paradise then towards north to Hervey Bay (see next article). From Europe, this famous surfers huge beach looks like paradise! That’s why I wished to stop there for 1 night.

I booked an amazing hotel on the front beach to perform the photoshoot: Peppers Soul. Prices are ok compared to France or England, it’s a modern hotel – not that recent, but you pay the amazing view from 4th to 70th floor! To local residents, it was nice but “usual”; they explained they dream to see old buildings in Europe lol. On my side, it was like a dream: a huge one room apartment with a long balcony up to the sea… I woke up at 4:30am to see the sunrise!

There I met a very nice make-up artist and hairstylist Kristy Laura mua who helped me to organize the photoshoot ahead. She managed everything so well to get the 1st model Ella prepared in order to start on time. Then she took care of Hauwa ‘s make up and hair while I was shooting Ella. All 4 of us had good fun, playing with the environnement of this huge hotel to catch the best before sunset 🙂 Thanks so much girls! There were so many people there that we could go everywhere laughing like teenagers without being noticed! Please have an eye bellow 😉

You will also see some pics of places from Surfers Paradise to Bilinga (south). I’ve never seen such buildings along a beach! It was winter but I really appreciated the cool weather with this infinite blue sky above Coral Sea … people looked so relaxed and happy there even if it is a touristic place!

Australia, QLD – Brisbane for 2nd photoshoot

For this second part of my Australian trip, I stopped to Brisbane “BrisVegas” as people used to call this big city. I was stunned as it was my first time seeing such skyscrapers!

I planned a photoshoot in my hotel at it was a nice city-center one, closed to the river: Next Hotel. Nobody answered my announcement up to 2 days before! Suddenly, I had 3 models 🙂 I met very kind and cute girls: Sarah, Emely and Deepti. We mixed their cloths and jewelry with ones I carried for the photoshoots. My only difficulty was the lake of light for the last one. It was winter and from 4pm it was too late for taking pics. But we had fun for sure! Thanks so much girls!

I had 2 half-days there to walk around: taking the river cat and roaming at night to Botanic Garden and South Bank area. I saw my first possum – so cute!!! There were an open stage in the street where I could listen to an orchestra and an a-capela choir. I wish I could come again for having time to visit some museums and other city areas – it looks like this city never sleeps!

Australia, QLD – 1st photoshoot

I have dreamt to go to Australia from the age of 19… and at the honorable age of 43 I decided to get there on a whim! Life has to be lived 🙂 So I took my flights and as usual I organized some photoshoots ahead. I planned places to go along East Coast, stop points, car rentals and internal flights. I chose 3 different places to organize photoshoots along my 12 days trip (I know, it was really too short!).

I arrived to Brisbane totally out of order lol. And my luggage stayed to Abu Dhabi… usual little adventure of black cat (see previous articles)! I couldn’t get changed during 3 days, washing and drying my clothes with the hotel hair dryer… Then I flight to Rockhampton (about 650km at north) with my luggage hehehe. Just a detail, Rocky is the beef capital of Australia and I am veggie…

There, I planned a fashion photoshoot with a little girl, Emily. I found her on web by chance and it was a really sweet and amazing meeting with her mother Julie and her. Thanks God! A photo of Emily was published through Child Model Magazine !

As usual, I had a look around the day before the shooting. I also discovered places around. I well drove at left side (!) and visited Yeppoon, Emu Park, Mont Archer, Capricorn Caves and the amazing Rocky zoo. I saw my first kangaroo and hundreds of birds, it was like paradise to me! I spoke with extremely kind people all along, I still keep in touch with some of them.

London, England – before leaving

The day after the photoshoot, I was prepared to get back home. As I was up at 5am because of the light – beautiful blue sky for London 😉 – I decided to walk around to take pics of buildings.

There a bad adventure happened to me: it was 6:30am and I was in The City area when 2 guys on a moped pushed me down and stole my iPhone… I just remembered being hurt with feeling pain on my right side (shoulder and knee) – I don’t remember falling down. So I was sat there bleeding everywhere on my face, t-shirt, camera because my head hurt the pavement. I was chocked and crying like a baby but 5 amazing people stopped on their way to work and helped me till ambulance and police arrived. Each one was so carrying that I still believe there is goodness in this world 🙂

Happily for 20 tears I always wear my Canon camera across the shoulder. My camera is my baby, any iPhone is nothing! Please, photographers, always use your shoulder-strap!

So with no phone, I couldn’t notify any of my relatives I was injured and I didn’t know how to get back home as my tickets were into my phone! Plus my glasses broken, I wasn’t able to read anything lol! Crazy situation. Happily I was helped a lot by people, thanks God! So I could go back to France with browses, hair pasted by blood and puffy eyes 🙂

But the story continued: 2 months after, 471 pounds were taken from my account. I know my visa number was stolen through booking.com as it already happened 2 years before when I booked an hotel through it. I never use this website since. So travelers, take care! I had to use my bank insurance and to change my visa. Bad ending of this trip but I met amazingly carrying and kind people I would never forget 🙂 3 bad people for 13 good ones!

London, England – the photoshoot day

After my day spotting places, two models – Ariel Thompson & Miguel Ruiz Rios – on three came for the photoshoot. It’s always a bet to book people when I am far away ; I never know what will happen 🙂

My friend Thib Ferrassou the hairstylist started his job. It was such a warm weather that we were sweating in this small room with the hairdresser on! As Miguel was ready first, we started taking pics inside the room to match the style we previously chose. Then we went into the hotel common area – Citizen M Shoreditch.

Once everyone ready, we went outside on some graffiti spots. We were addressed by a team making a music video and they asked Ariel and Miguel to be part of! So they will appear into it: singer Jermaine Jahovi.

Each model has his/her own style, so I have to be creative and to make their style matching my ideas. Environnement always help. And the most important thing to me is to have fun and to work in a good positive atmosphere so I loose kilograms of water each time lol. The result was awesome, many thanks the team!

London, England – before the photoshoot

I organized a photoshoot to London few months after my experience to Ivory Coast 🙂 I just staid 2 days there. I booked my flights and I chose the Citizen M hotel in Shoreditch area, closed to City. Actually I previously pre-booked another hotel (located at the other side of London) and I changed my mind just before my trip, I don’t really know why!… The Citizen M looked nice with tastefully and trendy decoration and it was!

I thought that a part of the photoshoot would take place there, and the other part in the streets around. Taking pictures in hotels is not that easy because money is usually asked to be allowed to take fashion photos in most hotels in France – and it’s very expensive (200 to 300€ for 2 hours usually). I just asked the day of my arrival if it could be possible as it’s just for fun and to feed my Facebook page (not in a commercial aim). I always tag hotels when I publish the photos.

I found 2 models in London before leaving (Ariel and Miguel). We decided which styles and clothes to wear. An hairstylist friend of mine Thib, who moved to London was pretty ok to style the models! I didn’t find any makeup artist – that always means to me a longer photoshop work 😉

As usual, I spent my first day walking around – a lot lol – to spot possible places where to take pics. I definitely have chosen by chance THE right area ; God was with me 🙂 I discovered a living place full of graffiti – and I like so much this kind of urban places! Thanks so much to street artists, you are genius!

Abidjan, Ivory Coast – 2nd photoshoot

Once everything organized I couldn’t wait for taking pictures!!! All the team met at BUSHMAN Cafe , the place that allowed us to realize this amazing photoshoot!

Patrick Edooard from BTendance came with 4 big luggages of stylists clothes from Abidjan he previously chose!!! I felt very excited by all those beautiful creations from Ange-Dady, Diana Rosin, Elie Kuame, Envy Boutique, Lewis Mardochee, Melyjah, Nackissa, Nikaule, Pelebe, Triple K., Samarra, Yale Woody, Yebe Design, Zango and this list is not exhaustive…

Please read the excellent BTendance article from the photoshoot with all references: BUSHMAN is ZO !!! The picture on the cover was published through EyeEm blog The Week on EyeEm 🙂

Ilias and Jean-Philippe were here to advise and to help on the shooting. Ami, Assetou, Fabien and Mathieu were our models ; amazing makeup artists were also there: Vivi and Macha. Thanks so much to each of you for your involvement and creativity! As I always say: it’s a team work, everything is possible all together with the same positive energy.

We worked more than 7 hours with 35°C as it’s to say it was a nuts day!!! but so unforgettable… I worked 50 hours on the photos once back home. One of my best and favorite fashion photoshoot ever!

Abidjan, Ivory Coast – preparing 2nd photoshoot and visiting

I meet Patrick Edooard Kitan, co-fonder & artistic director of BTendance Webzine . We got together at BAO café, a trendy afterwork place with nice music to chill out. After 2 minutes, it was like if we knew each other for years!!! Sometimes life makes good surprises 🙂 We spoke about our photoshoot to come: choice of location, mood book, models, styles and trends we both like… We definitely had an artistic connexion with ‘Monsieur Edooard’!!!

Then, we met with Patrick a second time at BUSHMAN Cafe an amazing place where Art is omnipresent thanks to Pascale and her husband! You feel immediately home in this place where European and African objets, paintings and music are so well mixed. We had a nice chat with Pascale and Ruth who both took a very good care of me, making me visit the rooms and the areas. I just had to pick-up my favorite ones for the photoshoot to come, I felt like a child opening Christmas presents!!! Thanks so much, I will be back for sure 🙂

Awaiting the photoshoot day, I took time to visit places in Abidjan. I went to Banco Park with its primary forest, I saw amazing butterflies there but it was too late to see monkies in wildlife… I had a look at Banco washers down to Banco Park in the river. There, I felt it was quite dangerous alone and I have to admit that people work in such conditions that I understand their aggressiveness towards tourists. I also went to Charles DonWahi Fondation, a quiet place with a beautiful Art museum. I spent a very nice moment at Debarcadere restaurant, closed to Palais de la Culture where a reggae festival took place. I visited St-Paul’s cathedral and Notre-Dame d’Afrique where I could feel people faith. Have a look below, whisking you enjoyed 😉

Abidjan, Ivory Coast – first photoshoot

Once in Abidjan, so kind Aka helped me to organize my first look around to Grand-Bassam, at east of Abidjan, on the way to Assinie. Then, I could see some nice spots where to take pictures. I’m always having a look on places and orientation of light before taking pics 🙂

I visited there Costume Museum with magical masks, costumes along time and following places in the country. It was nice! I discovered there also beautiful statues, photos from colonial period (that froze my blood), various ways how Ivorian villages are built… Hamed the driver and I then spent a nice time on the beach, watching people having fun,  playing music, children riding horses… I went to artist painters old house where I saw beautiful paintings (have a look there, Art is alive!!!). Getting out of there, an alcoholic man stole me few money in my purse…black cat lol

Once back to Abidjan, I went to Riviera to meet Kristine Bell, CEO of Kwayo Agency in order to introduce myself and present my previous work. Then we launched the first photoshoot with Juliana and Mandjalia, Lewis was our stylist. Mandjalia became Miss Ivory Coast 2017 few weeks after!!! Proud to have taken photos of her! We had a lot of fun and laughs to get prepared into a too small car (1m80 girls lol) and as it was 35°C 🙂 We went to places I previously saw along the beach and we finished the shooting at Wafou hotel, a nice place to refresh ourselves. Then we had a nice dinner all together, laughing and chatting. What a nice day thanks to God!!!
